The character of Salome has inspired many works of art throughout history, among them the writings of Oscar Wilde and the music of Richard Strauss. Mashayekhi does not believe in descriptive music, but he also does not deny “associations de idée” related to an event or a person, in this case, the character of Salome. Explaining this work, he says: “Crystallization of love and hate. This is not a story for me, but so much love and hate feels good in the environment of my music.”
