Born to an art-loving family in Isfahân1970, Masood Arbâbiân began taking ney lessons at the age of 15; and at 18, along with his uncle, Dr Hoseyn Omumi, who was a radif specialist, ney player and university lecturer in Music, he was given the privilege to meet with Maestro Hasan Kasâ’i. That meeting caused him to become enthralled by music and, particularly, Isfahân style of ney playing. Throughout the years of practicing as Kasâ’i’s pupil, Arbâbiân tried to learn and employ the phrasing and subtleties of Isfahân style while playing melodiously. He believes the greatest honor of his artistic life to be taught by Kasâ’i and is ever grateful to him and his warm-hearted family.
